Birth announcements typically include:

• Baby’s Full Name
• Date of Birth
• Time of Birth
• Weight
• Height
• Length
• First & Last Names of the Parents as well as the sibling(s) if applicable.

Orders are processed as quickly as possible, but art cannot be rushed! Portrait orders are typically delivered within 4-6 weeks. If your order contains custom storyboards, greeting cards, and/or specialty items such as our gallery-wrapped canvas or coffee table books your order may take up to eight weeks for delivery.

Orders will be shipped to the “ship to” address you specify upon checkout. We ship our packages via the United States Postal Service Priority Mail and require a signature for delivery.

Shipping & Signature Requirements

Why do you require a signature for delivery?

This is done in the best interest of our clients. While I have great faith in our US Postal Service, I am also realistic and aware that there may come a time when a package is lost or damaged in transit. Requiring a signature upon delivery ensures that the package is only left in the hands of the person who signs for it and never abandoned on a door step subjected to the elements. It is my theory that packages requiring a signature are more likely to be handled with the care they deserve and subsequently arrive at their destination safely.

Prior to implementing signature requirements the postal service had misplaced (and subsequently found) three packages over the course of two years. Not a bad track record at all. However, in the three years since implementing this policy I am pleased to report that no packages have been lost in shipment.

What will happen to my package if I am not home when it’s delivered?

If you are not home at the time of delivery you will be left a notice informing you of the attempted delivery and letting you know when you can pick up your package at the post office.

Standout Mounting is available as an upgraded option for portraits 8×10 or larger. Images mounted on standout will set off the wall 3/4 of an inch and contain pre-drilled holes for hanging. Prints are mounted on a thick lightweight backing that gives a contemporary, finished look to unframed images. Holes are included on the back of the mounts for easy hanging.

Standout portraits are designed in a way that makes them appear to be “free floating” on the wall. Framing is not recommended. Please keep this in mind when selecting this option, the standout mounting will be visible when looking at the profile of the image. Standout is available in your choice of black or white.

Images above show examples of both 3/4 inch standout and 1 1/2 inch standout. The 3/4 inch standout pricing is available within your ordering gallery. Pricing on 1 1/2 inch standout is available by request.

The depth and brilliance of a canvas print is wonderful.  Our fine art canvas portraits are created by using a process known as Giclée printing. Simply put, this means that your portrait is printed directly onto high quality artistic canvas rather than having the portrait printed onto photographic paper and then adhering the photographic paper to the canvas. This print reflects light in different directions as opposed to a regular flat print giving it more of a three dimensional appearance and reduced glare. It does not look like a painting, it is a photograph.

Wrapped Canvas (Images 16×20 and larger)

Wrapped canvas prints on a stretcher frame are the choice for clients who wish to mount their canvas portrait directly to the wall with no frame required. With this process, a one inch wood frame is used and the actual image is wrapped around the oversized stretcher. One inch from all four sides of the print will wrap around the edge, clients should be aware of this when deciding which size to order. For example, when a client orders a 16 x 20 wrapped canvas portrait on a stretcher frame the final face size of the portrait will be 14 x 18. You have not lost those additional inches of your portrait, they are simply wrapped around the sides of the stretcher frame. The corners and sides of the stretched canvas are finished so neatly, that framing becomes unnecessary. The canvas is the focus on the wall, not the surrounding frame.

There are times when a photo is cropped in very tightly and will not accommodate image wrapping without causing important parts of the image to be “wrapped” as well. If this is an issue with a canvas you have ordered you will be contacted to discuss available options. In some cases the sides of the image can be digitally stretched to allow them to fit around the frame. Another option would be the use of a gallery wrapped edge (shown below). With the gallery wrap option, the full image shows on the front, and bare canvas shows on the side . The staples run along the back of the frame, hidden from sight. This makes for a very clean frameless presentation.

Stretcher Frame (Images 11×14 and larger)

The standard canvas on stretcher frame is the exact same high quality canvas portrait as our wrapped canvas with the only differences being the width of the frame and it’s unfinished sides. With this option the canvas is framed over 1/2″ artist stock with staples clearly shown along all sides. If you prefer to frame your canvas you will want to select this option when placing your order. The image will be true to size as no amount of the portrait wraps around the framing. This is the only option available for clients ordering canvas portraits smaller than 16×20.

If asked to choose, Terrilyn always prefers the image wrapped canvas portrait.

Masonite (Images 11×14 and larger)

Yes, canvas can be affordable!
Bonding your canvas image to masonite has it’s advantages, the most obvious being the reduced pricing. Perhaps not as obvious until you have the portrait in your hands would be the masonite material and the unfinished edges. Masonite is 1/8th of an inch in thickness and quite sturdy. While framing is required for display, the choice of selecting a custom framing service or opting to frame the portrait yourself is entirely up to you. The finished canvas portrait is true to size, meaning, if you order an 16 x 20 canvas bonded to masonite the face of your canvas portrait will be 16×20 when it arrives at your door.

Brush Stroked Canvas

Only available when you order your canvas on a stretcher frame. This upgraded option is unbelievably beautiful when properly applied to the right image. It can raise your portrait to a level of artist excellence many only dream about. Having said that, very few images actually benefit from brush texture. In most cases, the texture will actually distract from the image and a consultation with Terrilyn is encouraged prior to purchase to ensure the image you have selected will be enhanced with brush stroking.

What works- Large prints with simple, bold elements. If your photograph has elements that actually have texture, then adding brush texture to your image is a natural way to enhance these elements. An example would be an environmental portrait photographed in an area with trees, shrubs, rocks, or other objects that lend themselves to having texture added. Think of an artist painting a picture. If the artist were to use pronounced brush strokes to create an element, then that same object in a photograph would easily take texturing.

What doesn’t work- Small faces, small prints, too much detail, and solid backgrounds. The subjects head size should be 2 inches across or larger, and print size should be 16 x 16 or larger. Anything smaller and the texture will overpower the print.

Please add an additional week to your order processing time for canvas portraits that have the added brush stroke to allow for image drying.op
